Beautiful Isle of Key West
The Beautiful Isle of Key West was written by Ellen Welters Sanchez and she had her favorite piano student Coffee Butler perform it for Harry Truman in 1948 at the dedication of “Truman Avenue”. This video was recorded at the sold out book release party for the Soul of Key West, Volume II at the Studios of Key West, December 19, 2015.

Where can I get the sheet music for The Beautiful Isle of Key West?
We recorded it on Coffee’s latest CD. No sheet music available then, we did some charts, I’ll see if I can find them. It was written by Ellen Welters Sanchez, who taught Coffee and many others piano. She wrote it for Harry Truman who especially liked the Waltz, it was written as a Waltz. Coffee Butler played it for Harry Truman at the dedication of Truman Avenue in 1948. During the recording sessions we added more percussion and a little NOLA flavor. I’ll try to get some of the Key West musicians to chart it.
